Is it strange that I have strong childhood memories of the song "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" by Elton John. It was a fairly popular single for him, and was played all the time on AM radio when I was a kid.
I couldn't decypher the lyrics, the the MELODY of this song is so astonishingly beautiful, and simple, that it wrapped itself around my head like a warm fuzzy hat.
To this day, I still adore this song - and the whole album - which is full of some truly masterful creations by Sir Elton and Bernie Taupin.

- My parents like to tell this story that I was singing before I was talking. I would say that this is probably due to the fact that as a baby, I would not quiet down without the sound of the radio - tuned to the local top-40 AM station popular at the time. Ultimately this both warped my mind and expanded it - filling my head with what could be considered useless musical trivia, lyrics and melodies to songs that might better be forgotten. It's as much a part of me as the gap between my front teeth, or my brown hair.
